Title: The Fifth Generation
Date: 1983 Reading, MA
Publisher: Addison-Wesley
The secondary title of this book is Artificial Intelligence and Japan’s Computer Challenge to the World. The book is good, though many of the predictions have been overtaken by events. I was studying at Tokyo Institute of Technology from 1985 to 1988 and was close to ICOT (the Fifth Generation Project) during that time. Many of the ICOT objectives fell by the wayside within the first few years of the project. This book is interesting reading for retro-perspective.
