Neurons are essential components of thought.

A brain cell. Neurons have many different shapes, sizes and, presumably, different functions, depending on their location in the brain and their structure. Neuron shape may be less spindley than most pictures depict. In fact, Volume 2 shows neurons with a more ink-blot than tree-like shape.
