27 Mar specialization

A process of performing or learning to perform unique tasks or functions. The term is sometimes applied to things normally dedicated to a certain task but capable of generalized behavior. Specialization tends to suggest that the organization of neurons in the brain is more complex than can be easily modeled with perceptron or connectionist models where every node is functionally identical.
