13 Jul subtext
One definition of subtext is the hidden contextual information that complicates communication. Obvious examples of subtext are often referred to as the “thousand pound gorilla in the room”. But in most conversations there are many such gorillas, large and small, lurking under the level of consciousness. It is possible that the reason some autistic people have poor social skills is that they tend to be unable to filter communication to accommodate subliminal or subtextual constraints.
