02 Jan concept learning

Learning CycleConcept learning, category learning or concept acquisition/attainment is a distinct type of learning, human or machine, characterized by construction of an associative meaning model. From a psychology wiki, “concepts are the mental categories that help us classify objects, events, or ideas and each object, event, or idea has a set of common relevant features. Thus, concept learning is a strategy which requires a learner to compare and contrast groups or categories that contain concept-relevant features with groups or categories that do not contain concept-relevant features.” The set of common relevant features represent associations with taxonomical generalization. Concept learning can go beyond taxonomies to causality, meronomy, identity, time and space, and narrower domains such as geopolitics manufacturing processes.
