20 Mar feature

A feature, in the context of perception, is a basic component of an image, sound or other perceptible object. Features of sounds include their pitch, volume, duration, and decay. Features of images include the orientation of each of the lines and contours, light intensity, color, hue, direction of motion, and speed. In information processing, finding features of things such as images, sounds, words and sentences is essential for correct recognition and interpretation. These features become constraints.
