A method of linking words or other screen objects in a computer application or environment. The link typically connects a word to other information related to the word. This model was popularized by the Hypercard application available on the Apple Macintosh, then later migrated to other computing platforms and to the World Wide Web on the Internet. The World Wide Web uses HTML, which stands for HyperText Markup Language.
