21 Mar nerve fiber

An appendage or protrusion from the cell body of a neuron or nerve cell. Nerve fibers include axons (afferent and efferent), dendrites, spines and neurites (formative fibers). The elongation of these fibers is due, in part, to the filamentous components of the cytoskeleton.
