In continuous speech, the process of distinguishing the beginnings and ends of words. When we hear speech in an unfamiliar language, it may seem unnaturally rapid, so it is difficult for us to make out words. It usually takes a fair amount of experience and practice to develop a facility for hearing a foreign language.
